OS and Gadgets Updates Sphere: Skype's new future

Not exactly a gadget or an OS topic but certainly an interesting one to be discussed. Microsoft has announced its intention to buy one of the largest "internet-telephone" company, Skype, in a deal worth to be around 8.5 billion US dollars.

Most of the people out here has used Skype once before, for free! So how does Microsoft intend to recover the money they've spent on acquiring a company which made a net loss in the year ending 2010? There are quite a few questions and rumors surrounding the takeover by Microsoft. Will Skype still be free? Will there be dramatic changes? Trial period? What about Microsoft's own products? It is quite reasonable to assume that the Skype systems and programs would somehow come with Microsoft gadgets sometime in the near future.

Definitely interesting to see how this deal would play out. Will it put Microsoft on top of Google and Apple in the technology gadgets and systems market? Only time will tell...
